Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is Dario Pio Francesco Termini, who runs the projects Ancient Legends (in English) and Antiche Leggende (in Italian). For any question about your data, write to privacy@anticheleggende.com.

2. What data we collect

From the form: your first name, your email address and the language you want the ebook in.

To verify your email: a 6-digit code we send you by email. The code is never stored in plain text: the site only keeps an encrypted fingerprint of it, for 15 minutes, in a technical cookie in your browser.

From the newsletter: the Beehiiv platform records when and where you subscribed, your subscription status and technical email delivery data. It may also record whether you open our emails and click the links inside them, so we can see how the newsletter is doing.

While you browse: the service hosting the site (Vercel) receives technical data about each visit, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, and keeps it briefly in its logs to run and protect the site.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

Sending you the ebook and checking the email is yours. We use your email and language to send you the code and deliver the ebook in the language you chose. The legal basis is performing your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

The newsletter. When you request the ebook you join the newsletter: every week you get a free myth by email, along with other stories, deep dives, new YouTube videos and news and products from Ancient Legends and Antiche Leggende. Emails may include sponsored content, always clearly marked as such. We use your first name to greet you in our emails. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by submitting the form and confirming your email with the code. Joining the newsletter is the condition for getting the free ebook, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Security. We use technical checks to block bots and abuse of the form. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. How subscribing works and how to unsubscribe

You enter your first name, email and language, and we send you a code. Only when you enter the right code are you subscribed to the newsletter in the language you chose (Ancient Legends for English, Antiche Leggende for Italian) and able to download the ebook. If you don’t enter the code, you are not subscribed and receive no newsletter.

You can unsubscribe whenever you like using the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or by writing to privacy@anticheleggende.com. Unsubscribing does not affect anything done before.

5. Who handles the data for us

Your data is processed on our behalf by providers acting as data processors:

Beehiiv, the newsletter platform (Beehiiv privacy policy).
Resend, the service that sends the email with your code (Resend privacy policy).
Vercel, the service that hosts the site (Vercel privacy policy).

We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it with sponsors. Reading sponsored content does not pass your data to the sponsor.

6. Transfers outside the European Union

Beehiiv, Resend and Vercel are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the provider’s certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. How long we keep it

First name, email and language: for as long as you stay subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we may keep only what is needed to remember that you unsubscribed, so we don’t email you again.

Verification code: 15 minutes. Download access: 48 hours. Technical logs at Vercel and Resend: for the short period set by those services. Cookie notice: your browser remembers for 180 days that you’ve read it.

8. Your rights

You can ask at any time to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its use, receive it in a portable format or object to its processing, and you can withdraw your consent to the newsletter. Write to privacy@anticheleggende.com. If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

9. Minimum age

The ebook and newsletter are meant for people aged at least 16, or the minimum age for digital consent in your country if lower. We make no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

10. Links to YouTube and Instagram

The site links to our YouTube and Instagram channels. They are plain links: those services receive nothing unless you click them. Once you open them, the YouTube and Instagram privacy policies apply.

11. Cookies and changes

What we store in your browser is explained in the Cookie Policy. The rules for using the site are in the Terms and conditions.
